About me: Experience and Qualifications
About me: Dr Tyler Baverstock-Kay MBio Ph.D. AFHEA
Hello! My name is Tyler and thank you for showing interest in online tutoring with myself.
My background is in Structural Microbiological research with numerous experiences of teaching students from GCSE, A-level and undergraduate levels. I believe that all teaching should be student-focused, active participation and ask any question, to provide a welcoming and accepting learning environment. For my professional qualifications and experience, please see below.
Student-focused: To me it does not matter if we spend two lessons on the same topic or we need to use multiple teaching approaches, if it helps the student learning then I will do my best to ensure the student is catered for. All students should feel uplifted and proud of their efforts, and mistakes promoted as essential learning not failure of any kind.
Direct customer-to-tutor: There is no middle man or platform, all questions and enquiries or issues all come to me. I will endeavour to answer all emails/calls/texts within a 24 hour window. All payments are made directly to myself, so no platform fees. This allows me to keep my prices lower than other equally qualified tutors.
Experienced: With 4 years online tutoring experience with platforms such as MyTutor, GoStudent, The Brilliant Club, and 2 years experience in-person teaching at undergraduate level, I have reflected a great deal about my own teaching to apply it to my students. In terms of subject knowledge and experience, my Ph.D. in Biochemistry, I have a vast knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics which I used daily during my research. I have also taught all the main exam boards; AQA, OCR and Edexcel and understand their differences and similarities
