About me: Experience and Qualifications
About me: Dr Tyler Baverstock-Kay MBio Ph.D. AFHEA
Hello! My name is Tyler, and thank you for showing interest in online tutoring with me.
My background is in Structural Microbiological research, and I have extensive experience teaching students at GCSE, A-level, and undergraduate levels. I believe teaching should be student-focused, encourage active participation, and foster an environment where any question can be asked. Below, you’ll find more information about my professional qualifications and experience.
Student-Focused Approach: It doesn’t matter if we spend two lessons on the same topic or need to use multiple teaching approaches—if it helps the student learn, I will do my best to ensure their needs are met. All students should feel uplifted and proud of their efforts, with mistakes seen as essential learning opportunities, not failures.
Direct Customer-to-Tutor Interaction: There is no middleman or platform involved; all questions, inquiries, and issues come directly to me. I strive to answer all emails, calls, and texts within 24 hours. Payments are made directly to me, avoiding platform fees and allowing me to keep my prices lower than other equally qualified tutors.
Experienced Tutor: I have 4 years of online tutoring experience with platforms such as MyTutor, GoStudent, and The Brilliant Club, and 2 years of in-person teaching experience at the undergraduate level. My Ph.D. in Biochemistry provides me with a vast knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics, which I used daily during my research. I am familiar with all the main exam boards—AQA, OCR, Scottish National 5, Highers and Edexcel—and understand their differences and similarities.
